Object Name:
Horse Ambulance
This wagon was used to pick up sick or injured horses and take them off the streets of the city where they could get veterinary care. It has a foot operated bell and emergency Dietz Fire King Lanterns with red lenses on the sides. The back end gate swings down to make a ramp for the horse to load. If the horse can't get in on its own power there is a place for a rope to go through the front panel and the team or horses could pull the animal in to the ambulance. It has veterinary tools and supplies under the seat to treat the sick or injured animal. The roof of the vehicle has a C top which extends over the driver and rises so the horse can stand inside. There are side curtains which roll down to enclose the wagon. This is an extremely rare historical vehicle.
