An Express Wagon is a freight carrying full fifth wheel wagon in the medium-weight class, intended for carrying larger parcels and boxes to homes or business houses, and for carrying trunks and baggage to and from the depot. The driver's seat is usually higher than that on a Delivery Wagon, and the body was provided usually with flare-boards to assist in holding bulky loads. Occasionally the Express Wagon was hung on three elliptic springs, but more often it was on platform springs.
